This scholarship fund was established in memory of Dionisia "Donnie" Fernandez Belleza. Donnie was a violinist in the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and beloved mother, wife, daughter, and cousin.
She shared her gift of music with the world, performing for the audiences around the country, as well as American presidents, heads of state, and other dignitaries.
Established in 2011, the scholarship fund supports the education of promising young musicians. Programs such as Interlochen and the Greenwood Music Camp are essential for the growth of talented musicians, and formal training at institutions such as the University of the Philippines College of the Music enable music students to advance professionally. Donnie was trained at the Juilliard Pre-College Division after arriving in the United States at age 8 from the Philippines. She later earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the Juilliard School.
We welcome you to learn more about Donnie, the Memorial Fund, and our Scholars.
